Unfortunately, experienced lawyers do not have the time available to talk to everyone who needs help without compensation. As experienced counsel, we feel our time is valuable and we do not offer free consultations. A portion of your consultation fee will be applied as a credit to your account if we are retained as full representation counsel. We do not apply the credit if we are retained on a limited basis. Contact our office to schedule a consultation.
As every family law matter differs so greatly from case to case, it is our practice is to set up consultations where we discuss the particular facts of your case and give you a personalized and honest appraisal of your options. We discuss whether further legal representation is desired and if so, which type of service is requested. Our office offers a variety of services from hourly “behind the scenes” coaching to full representation in litigated matters. We also do mediation. Valuable information is provided during the consultation. If we feel you can handle your case on your own, we will tell you how to do so. Contact our office for a one hour consultation with experienced family law attorney Lynn Landis-Brown.
During the consultation we offer valuable advice and a down to earth appraisal of your matter, together with the retainer fee we feel would be appropriate for your matter – not a “sale’s pitch”.
There is no obligation to continue with our office. However, if we are retained for full representation of you in a traditional attorney-client role, a portion of your consultation fee will be as a credit to your account. We do not apply the credit if we are retained on a limited basis. We look forward to speaking with you to assist you towards resolution of your family law issues. To set up a consultation, complete the contact form.
We must receive your consultation fee prior to holding the conference. Therefore, we ask that you arrive 5-10 minutes prior to your scheduled appointment time. We accept cash, checks and credit cards. We do not accept American Express. We look forward to hearing from you.
What to Bring: Plan to arrive 5 minutes early. Please do not bring your children. It is not in a child’s best interest to discuss matters in front of them and we do not have staff or facilities to care for children. Bring copies of pleadings or other pertinent documents if you are coming to discuss a post-decree or ongoing matter.
Retainers
A retainer is a deposit which is placed into our pooled client trust account. This is your money, which is held for your use. Colorado family law attorneys are ethically prohibited from accepting a financial interest in your case, or accepting “contingency” types of fees that are dependent upon the outcome of the case as some other lawyers (such as personal injury lawyers) are allowed to do. Retainers vary depending on the complexity of your case. When your Colorado family law matter is completed, you get a refund if you have remaining funds in trust. If your retainer is used up before the case is completed, you will need to deposit more money.
